Courta Smith

BKin, BA - Injury Prevention, Stretch & Strength, Rehab Therapy

Courta excited to share with participants some skills in learning exercises to prevent injury, treat injuy, strengthen, and stretch. Courta's experience in movement rehab and fitness guides participants in safely gaining flexibility and strength. Courta leads the Adaptive Dance for Teachers, and the end of day cool down and meditation.

Brittany Lavigne

Barre Instructor, Industry Dance

Brittany works as a full-time movement instructor in Barrie, ON and the GTA.  Her passion for music and movement are undeniable as she fell in love with dance at a young age. Brittany received most of her formal dance training with The National Ballet School, and most recently George Brown College, graduating  from their triple threat Commercial Dance Program. Brittany has had the privilege to train with some of the industry’s most sought after instructors and choreographers, dancing in music videos, live back up dancing and many more events! Brittany is the founder of BarreEssentials- a pilates, yoga, dance inspired workout. She now enjoys instructing and sharing her knowledge with students at various studios across Ontario, teaching guest workshops as well as regular classes at studios in Barrie and the Toronto area.

Christopher Knowles

Contemporary - Tech & Choreography

Christopher Knowles  was born in Miramichi, New Brunswick, and started dancing at a very young age. Growing up, he was a student teacher and choreographed his own works, performing them across the east coast and abroad. In 2008, Chris was chosen train in London, England with some of the world’s best choreographers in classes with the cast of WICKED the musical. At 18 he moved to Toronto to study dance at George Brown College where he achieved highly in choreography. After graduating became the Artistic Director of Precision Dance Company. While at PDC, Christopher earned awards for his choreographic work. In 2014 Chris co-created a Canadian East Coast event called “The Entity Tour” that inspires and trains students every summer in various cities! Recently, Christopher had the opportunity to choreograph for George Brown College students where his work was performed at the show “Unleashed.” He was honored to create work at “Toronto’s Choreographers Ball ” ,“Fever After Dark “ as well as “Dance Weekend” for Dance Ontario - all events showcasing Toronto’s professional working talent in the industry.


Chris has had the opportunity to teach at professional training venues such as “Metro Movement”, “RIGHTFOOT DANCE STUDIO”, and “The Underground”. Chris is working full time at “City Dance Corps” downtown Toronto. Creating stories through movement and watching them come to life is his calling.  He brings passion, technique, and energy to everything he does. Dance is his life and he is poised to share his knowledge and skill with those who share the same passion!

Victoria Parker

Music Theatre with Voice

Victoria was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and grew up in Truro Nova Scotia. She received her BMus from Acadia University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Education from University of Western Ontario. Before moving to London ON Victoria lived in Halifax teaching dance, yoga, and private music lessons. Victoria has performed live music for The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art. She also made an appearance on the CBC reality show Triple Sensation. Victoria recently

spent time in the Yukon recording a music album and studying painting. She is passionate about music, the arts, and nature. You'll find strong elements of all of these in her work.

Lindsay Parkinson

Make Up Artist

Lindsay studied Make Up Artistry in Florida and specialises in costume make up design. For junior & intermediate levels Linsday shows MBS Workshop participants how to achieve basic stage make up effects. For advanced & teacher levels Linsday shows you how to achieve certain looks, how to apply lashes, and current application techniques. Come with questions!

Jennalee Desjardins

HipHop & Waacking

Jennalee is professional dancer, instructor and choreographer known for her contagious energy and innovative urban choreography. With a diverse background of dance training including Hip Hop, Waacking, Jazz, House and Musical Theatre, Jennalee brings a unique perspective to the urban dance scene. She has successfully produced choreographic works for Dusk Dances, the National Art Centre’s Canada Day Celebration, House of Paint and Bollywood Monster MashUp. 

Jennalee is currently the Artistic Director of Culture Shock Toronto, a non-profit dance organization. Since joining in 2010, she has been fortunate enough to have her work performed in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, and Las Vegas. She is also a three-time recipient of the Culture Shock Canada Youth Outreach Award, for outstanding contribution to programs targeting at-risk youth through dance.
